About this texture

Bismuth Hopper Inlay: finish and surface detail

Angular stepped fragments with teal, violet and bronze tones sit in a near-black resin field. The fragment colors are fixed in the albedo.

Where to use this material

Sci-fi control panels, display plinths and decorative inlays. Model an edge bevel separately to give the insert thickness.

Keep the finish believable

The colors approximate the look of bismuth under a sealed finish. The shader uses fixed colors and has no view-dependent iridescence or simulated chemistry.

Texture scale and UV repeats

Start with a 24 cm tile. The largest stair-step cluster should remain small relative to the panel frame.

The example uses 0.24 m per full texture tile. This is an illustrative UV scale, not a measured physical capture. Inspect the repeat at your actual camera distance before covering a large surface.

Set up Bismuth Hopper Inlay in Blender

Connect albedo.png to Base Color using sRGB. Use roughness.png and normal-gl.png as Non-Color data. Route the normal through a Normal Map node, starting at strength 0.48. Set metallic to 0. The downloadable scene packs all three images.

The base color is AI-generated, and normal and roughness are estimates. The material changes surface shading; it does not add silhouette geometry. The pack has no displacement, AO or metallic image. For an engine expecting DirectX normals, use an image editor to invert the normal map’s green channel. Follow the Blender texture setup guide for the node connections.

Bismuth Hopper Inlay: common questions

Will the colors move when I orbit the camera?

The albedo holds its color. Use a renderer-specific thin-film layer if you need angle-dependent color changes.

Can the stair steps stand proud of the panel?

This pack shades a continuous surface. Model deep terraces as separate geometry for exposed crystals.

Browse the abstract texture library, the existing material library, or use the tile and offset checker to inspect repetition.
