About this texture

Copper Mesh Phenolic: finish and surface detail

A fine copper-colored weave shows through an amber-brown surface. The microgrid reads as a mesh sealed within a single opaque layer.

Where to use this material

Instrument faceplates, retro electronic enclosures and decorative hardware backs. Model openings and edge thickness separately.

Keep the finish believable

The mesh sits below the visual surface. Treat the exterior as a dielectric and keep relief weak. The pack has no transparency or conductivity data.

Texture scale and UV repeats

Start with a 24 cm repeat. Match the wire pitch across joined parts and inspect a distant view for aliasing.

The example uses 0.24 m per full texture tile. This is an illustrative UV scale, not a measured physical capture. Inspect the repeat at your actual camera distance before covering a large surface.

Set up Copper Mesh Phenolic in Blender

Connect albedo.png to Base Color using sRGB. Use roughness.png and normal-gl.png as Non-Color data. Route the normal through a Normal Map node, starting at strength 0.46. Set metallic to 0. The downloadable scene packs all three images.

The base color is AI-generated, and normal and roughness are estimates. The material changes surface shading; it does not add silhouette geometry. The pack has no displacement, AO or metallic image. For an engine expecting DirectX normals, use an image editor to invert the normal map’s green channel. Follow the Blender texture setup guide for the node connections.

Copper Mesh Phenolic: common questions

Can I use it as an open grille?

Use this for a sealed panel. Model holes or use a purpose-built cutout map for an open grille.

Why does the shader use metallic 0?

The exterior represents the continuous resin layer. Copper color is visible in the base map while the shader approximates a dielectric surface.

Browse the abstract texture library, the existing material library, or use the tile and offset checker to inspect repetition.
