A client archviz job does not fail because you lacked a Megascans seat. It fails because the floor is the wrong scale, the plaster looks like a JPEG, and half the maps are still in sRGB. This is a how to pick a pack page — not another “vs library” article. You will leave with a short list from Locker3d and a rule for when to stop browsing.

Read the brief before you open the catalog

Write three nouns: the walkable floor, the largest wall, the one hero close-up (island, headboard, wet-room). That is your download list. Everything else can stay a simple shader. If the brief is “warm Mediterranean apartment,” you need plaster and a worn board, not 40 metals. If it is “São Paulo concrete loft,” you need slabs and one wood, not a marble catalog.

New visitors: start here. Interior kit: PBR textures for archviz interiors.

Pick the category, not a pretty thumbnail

Locker3d splits surfaces on purpose:

  • Wood — planks, parquet, veneer, bark. Furniture and floors. Kit: interior wood.
  • Tiles — ceramic, mosaic, roof. Modular units with grout. Not a continuous plank.
  • Wall — plaster, brick, paint. A ~2 m tile. Example: yellow plaster.
  • Floor — pavers and slabs when it is not wood and not ceramic.
  • Concrete and urban concrete — decks, brutalist walls, stained interiors.
  • Marble / leather — hero props, not every wall.

If you grab a tile albedo and stretch it like a wood floor, grout lines become highways. If you grab worn planks and use them as a 20 m facade, the knots become billboards. Category is scale.

Lock world size before you unwrap

On each Locker3d page we suggest a starting size. Treat it as a default, then measure the room:

  • Plaster / paint wall: about 2 m across the tile. Yellow plaster is written that way on purpose.
  • Worn boards: 1.5–2 m so one plank width looks like a board, not a stamp. See worn planks.
  • Square ceramics: one module (often 20–30 cm). See square tiles and patio tiles.

Full interior numbers: texel density for interiors. Resolution theory: 1K vs 2K vs 4K. Locker3d does not ship 8K; do not tell a client you delivered 8K maps from this site.

Maps you actually need on deadline

For 90% of interiors: albedo + normal + roughness. Height only on the hero floor or a close plaster. Metallic off on wood, tile, plaster, concrete. In Blender, albedo is sRGB; the rest is Non-Color. That single mistake (sRGB on roughness) makes “free textures look cheap.” Node graph: Principled BSDF setup.

Downloads are Google Drive folders on each asset page. Grab 2K first. Swap the hero to 4K after the lighting is approved. You will waste less time than downloading every 4K ZIP “just in case.”

When free is enough — and when it is not

Free CC0 is enough when the camera is a room camera, the lighting is an HDRI plus a window, and the client cares about the furniture layout more than the pore on a marble edge. It is not enough when the shot is a 100 mm catalog crop of a custom stone the architect already specified by SKU. Then you scan, buy, or build a shader from their sample. That is not a failure of Locker3d; it is a different job.

Do not open twenty “vs” tabs. HDRI still lives on a dedicated CC0 sky library, not on Locker3d. Locker3d is category browse and 1K–4K maps without an account. License: CC0 — what you can and cannot do. Credit is optional; claiming you shot the scan is not.

A 45-minute client kit

  1. Floor: worn planks or a parquet from wood — 2K, 4K if the camera is on the floor.
  2. Wall: yellow plaster or a paint/brick from wall — 2K.
  3. Wet room or kitchen: square tiles — module scale, 2K or 4K on the backsplash only.
  4. One accent: marble island, leather sofa, or metal frame. One file, not five.
  5. Lookdev under the HDRI you will ship. If the plaster goes plastic, roughness is in the wrong color space.

How we decide what a page says: how we review CC0 PBR textures. Who we are (and what we do not claim): About Locker3d. More guides: blog.

Frequently asked questions

Can I deliver a client interior using only free CC0 textures?

Yes, if you pick the right family, lock world scale, and keep color space honest. Free fails when you stretch one 4K tile across every wall and floor. Paid scans help on hero close-ups, not on every skirting board.

Should I download 4K for the whole apartment?

No. 2K is the default for mid-distance walls and furniture. 4K is for the floor the camera walks and the backsplash in a beauty shot. Locker3d packs stop at 4K; do not hunt a fake 8K.

Which Locker3d pages should I open first on a deadline?

Wood or tiles for the floor, wall for plaster, then one accent (marble, metal, leather). Start at yellow plaster, worn planks, or square tiles if those match the brief.
